Last night the Atlantic Book Awards announced this year’s short list at the Halifax Central Library. Jon Tattrie  led a discussion with Valerie Compton, Alexander MacLeod and Ami MacKay called “Writers in Conversation”.  Shandi Mitchell’s Dalhousie University Creative Writing students opened the event with readings of their best short fiction from their final senior workshop. Winners of 2014 Heritage and History Book Awards announced

Paul Bowdring and Jennifer Morgan each took home an Award on Tuesday night at the 2014 Heritage and History Book Awards Ceremony. Bowdring won the Fiction Award for The Stranger’s Gallery (Nimbus Publishing). Morgan won the Children’s/Young Adult Literature Award for Almost Home: The Sinking of the SS Caribou (Breakwater Books). Each award came with a $250 cash prize.
