Born to Read is excited to announce that a new online educational video for parents will be launched in conjunction with Family Literacy Day celebrations on Monday, January 27 at the Fredericton Public Library at 2:00 pm. Everyone is invited!
The event will include a story time for children by New Brunswick Lieutenant Governor Brenda Murphy, book giveaways for families in attendance, refreshments and a premiere viewing of the new video.
The video was developed as a collaboration between Born to Read, the Literacy Coalition of New Brunswick, the University of New Brunswick Early Childhood Centre and the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, which funded the project.
The video depicts babies and parents enjoying books together in a variety of everyday situations. It demonstrates the importance of sharing books with infants and toddlers and contains helpful information and tips for parents wishing to support their children’s early literacy development from birth.
The new instructional video complements the Born to Read program and is a valuable resource to support parents’ effective use of the books Born to Read provides.
Following the official launch, the new video will be posted on Born to Read’s Facebook page and on its website at http://www.borntoreadnb.com/
