Have you ever participated in a ‘Reading Flash Mob’??? Dartmouth Book Exchange is hosting one on Wednesday, February 19th at 6:30 to celebrate the first annual ‘I Read Canadian Day’. Announced October 28- 2019, it is a National Day to celebrate Canadian Books for young people, a day dedicated to reading Canadian. Its purpose is to raise awareness of Canadian books and celebrate the richness and diversity of Canadian Literature #IReadCanadian
We are looking for kids, their families & friends to become ‘Mobsters’ for the evening by bringing a Canadian Children’s or a Young Adult book and reading their favourite paragraph or page aloud. We will have several local Children’s and Young Adult authors here that night who will also become ‘Mobsters’ for the evening, by reading aloud a selection from one of their books. There will also be sweet treats to eat.
Some of the authors that will be in attendance will include: Jacqueline Halsey, Melanie Mosher, Angela Jeffreys, Shawna Romkey, Clare O’Connor, Carrie Muller, Alice Walsh and Nicole Bea.
Format: A Canadian Flag will be passed around and when you receive that flag it will be your turn to read. Step up on the bench, introduce yourself and say: ‘I Read Canadian’, then what you’ll be reading before beginning your selection.
