February 18 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

In celebration of Toni Morrison (1931-2019), Halifax writer Evelyn C. White will discuss Sula, the author’s 1973 novel about the complex friendship between two Black women.

As a child, Morrison worked as a maid in a white household to help supplement the income of her parents. In 1993, she was named the Nobel Laureate in Literature and remains the only woman of African descent to have claimed the prize.

Among other works, White is the author of Alice Walker, the official biography of the writer best known for The Color Purple.
