WORKSHOP – “The Misheard Lyric” hosted by Andy Verboom
Experiment with Sylvia Wright’s neglected notion of the “mondegreen” (the misheard lyric), a poetic method that’s part rhyme, part translation, part multiverse theory.
Jeff Blackman has authored 15 chapbooks of poetry and prose including the Coral Castle Trilogy with Justin Million, BLIZZARD: Ottawa City Stories with Peter Gibbon, and most recently, You Just Proved Poems Work, available from Horsebroke Press. Since March, Jeff has been publishing a zine called These Days with his family and friends (available if you ask nicely). On Victoria Day he built a green screen in the basement and is very proud of himself.
Andy Verboom is from subrural Nova Scotia and lives in K’jipuktuk (Halifax). He is a founder of long con magazine and the publisher of Collusion Books. His poetry has won Frog Hollow’s Chapbook Contest and Descant’s Winston Collins Prize, been shortlisted for CV2’s Young Buck Prize and Arc’s Poem of the Year, and appeared in Prism, The Puritan, Vallum, and elsewhere. He is the author of six poetry chapbooks, most recently DBL (knife fork book, 2020).
