Last night the Atlantic Book Awards announced this year’s short list at the Halifax Central Library. Jon Tattrie  led a discussion with Valerie Compton, Alexander MacLeod and Ami MacKay called “Writers in Conversation”.  Shandi Mitchell’s Dalhousie University Creative Writing students opened the event with readings of their best short fiction from their final senior workshop. The Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council (NLAC) finalists for the 2014 BMO Winterset Award will read from their works and answer questions from the audience at a public reading and reception: 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, at The Rooms (in the Theatre), 9 Bonaventure Avenue in St. John’s.
